Among 41 species at Campbell Flats this morning were 10 warblers, some
of which were transients. I thought the cold front's passage might spur
some solid migration, but it was pretty quiet overall. As is often the
case, the best songbird activity was along the narrow strip of brush and
trees between the river and back (northwest) corner of the cornfield. A
number of species were feeding in the corn, moving back and forth
between the two habitats.
Highlights:
Canada Goose 85 feeding in pasture
Black-billed Cuckoo 1
Red-eyed Vireo 7 2 singing; 1 adult feeding full-grown, begging immature
Veery 2
Black-and-white Warbler 2
Tennessee Warbler 1
Nashville Warbler 2 1 singing weakly
Common Yellowthroat 9
American Redstart 1
Yellow Warbler 2
Chestnut-sided Warbler 4 1 adult male feeding begging, full-grown immature
Pine Warbler 1 singing persistently
Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle) 1
