This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Thursday, November 29th, 
2007.



A LARK SPARROW was seen at a bird feeder located behind a house near Pulpit 
Rocks on Route 1A in Rye on November 24th.



A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT and a GRAY CATBIRD were seen at Odiorne Point State 
Park in Rye on November 24th.



2 ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS were seen on November 24th, one near Frost Point 
at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, and one in a vacant lot on Island Path 
in Hampton.



An EARED GREBE was found at Seal Rocks in Rye on November 17th, and was last 
reported on the 27th. This is the same location at which an EARED GREBE 
spent most of last winter.



A male EURASIAN WIGEON, 3 GADWALL, 2 SNOW GEESE, and a LESSER BLACK-BACKED 
GULL were seen on Great Bay on November 24th.



A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen migrating with a flock of 70

CANADA GEESE over the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth on November 24th.



A DOVEKIE was reported from Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on November 
26th, a RAZORBILL was seen in Seabrook on the 27th, and a BLACK GUILLEMOT 
was seen from Pulpit Rocks in Rye on the 24th.



3 HARLEQUIN DUCKS were seen in the salt marsh creek that flows into Rye 
Harbor, on November 24th.



A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen at Moore Fields on Route 155A in Durham and one 
was seen over Hampton Marsh near Route 101 in Hampton, both on November 
23rd. A possible GYRFALCON was reported from Hampton Marsh, also on the 
23rd.



A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen at the Durham Town Landing on November 
21st.



A HOARY REDPOLL was seen among a flock of COMMON REDPOLLS visiting a feeder 
in Sandwich on November 26th. Another HOARY REDPOLL was seen among a flock 
of 50 COMMON REDPOLLS along the Tenney Mountain Highway in Plymouth on the 
25th.



75 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen near Powdermill Pond in Hancock on November 
28th, 40 were seen at the Community Gardens on Birch Street in Concord on 
the 22nd, and over 20 were seen in Rumney on the 22nd. In addition, there 
have been scattered sightings of smaller numbers during the past week.



BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS sightings during the past week included over 100 at the 
Plymouth State University field house on November 24th, and over 50 in 
Holderness near the Squam Lakes Science Center on the 28th.



NORTHERN SHRIKE sightings continue with 10 since the last Rare Bird Alert, 
including single birds in Epping and Chatham on the 28th, single birds in 
Fremont and Hampton on the 27th, single birds in Hanover, Bethlehem, and 
Durham on the 25th, and single birds in Hampton, Stratham, and Newton on the 
23rd.



PINE GROSBEAKS were reported from several locations during the past week, 
including 2 in Twin Mountain on November 25th, 3 at the Plymouth State 
University Field House in Plymouth on the 24th, 4 on River Road in Pittsburg 
on the 24th, 2 on Island Road in Harrisville on the 23rd, over 15 in Swanzey 
on the 23rd, and 5 on Quincy Road near the Plymouth and Rumney town line on 
the 22nd.



EVENING GROSBEAK sightings are increasing with flocks of over 60 in 
Jefferson on November 27th, 21 in Whitefield on the 22nd, 10 in Hancock on 
the 28th, and 4 in Enfield on the 22nd.



Over 70 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen at Hampton Beach State Park on November 
23rd, 50 at Ragged Neck in Rye on the 22nd, and over 30 at Moore Fields in 
Durham on the 24th. In addition, there have been scattered sightings of 
smaller numbers during the past week.



Over 100 HORNED LARKS were seen at Moore Fields on Route 155A in Durham on 
November 25th, and over 20 were seen at Hampton Beach State Park on the 
27th.



Over 20 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were reported from Rye Ledge in Rye on November 
24th.



A WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was seen on Landing Road in Hampton on November 
24th.



3 NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS were seen from Island Path in Hampton on 
November 24th.



2 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT were seen near the 
Seabrook Wastewater Treatment Plant on Route 286 on November 22nd. A PALM 
WARBLER was seen at Great Boar's Head in North Hampton, also on the 22nd.



A BALTIMORE ORIOLE was reported visiting a bird feeder in Derry on November 
23rd and 24th.



10 TURKEY VULTURES were seen at a roost in downtown Newmarket on November 
24th, waiting.
