This is New Hampshire Audubon’s Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, June 23rd,
2010. 

2 MISSISSIPPI KITES were reported from Newmarket on June 18th, and one was
reported from Durham on the 17th, but these birds are not being seen
regularly anywhere. 2 pairs nested in Newmarket in 2009 but no nests have
been reported for 2010.

A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was found in a field along Arboretum Drive just west
of Short Road in Portsmouth on June 13th, and was last reported on June
20th.

A CERULEAN WARBLER was seen from the trail up Mount Wantastiquet from
Mountain Road in Hinsdale on June 20th.

A BREWSTER'S WARBLER, a hybrid between a BLUE-WINGED and a GOLDEN-WINGED
WARBLER, first reported on June 2nd from Hudson just off Dracut Road, at
the power lines between Groves Farm and Brookfield Roads, continues to be
reported.

There was an unconfirmed report of a HOODED WARBLER heard from behind the
Town Hall in Mont Vernon several times during the past week.

5 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 5 GREATER SHEARWATERS, and 275 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS
were reported from a Whale Watch trip out of Rye on June 16th. 

A SOOTY SHEARWATER, 5 ROSEATE TERNS, and 5 BLACK GUILLEMOTS were reported
from the Isles of Shoals on June 22nd, and an ARCTIC TERN was seen in the
same area on June 20th.

A ROSEATE TERN, a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, and a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER were
seen along the coast in Rye on June 20th, and 3 ROSEATE TERNS were reported
from coastal Hampton on June 16th.

A SORA, a PIED-BILLED GREBE, and an ORCHARD ORIOLE were reported from the
Trails at Pickering Ponds on Pickering Road in Rochester on June 21st, and
an ORCHARD ORIOLE was reported from the New Hampshire Fish & Game Bellamy
River Wildlife Management Area in Dover on June 20th.

A MERLIN, 4 SPRUCE GROUSE, 2 BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS, 4 PHILADELPHIA
VIREOS, 7 GRAY JAYS, several BOREAL CHICKADEES, 3 BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS, 8
MOURNING WARBLERS, 2 WILSON'S WARBLERS, 31 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, numerous
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, and an EVENING GROSBEAK were reported from the
Pittsburg area during the past week 

A pair of EVENING GROSBEAKS was seen in Bedford on June 19th.

A BICKNELL’S THRUSH was seen, and 2 more were heard on the summit of Cannon
Mountain in Franconia Notch on June 20th.

Several BICKNELL'S THEUSHES were reported from the Sanguinary Ridge in
Dixville Notch on June 20th.
