Shameless personal post:

My family lives on 135 acre farm about 30 minutes outside of Hanover by car. We have 3 horses, 2 mini donkeys, chickens, 2 dogs, a cat, a rabbit and a fish named Bob. We sometimes like to go away. We are in need of some able farm sitters who are willing to stay over in our guest room when we travel, and be paid to take care of our animals and farm.

The deal:

Ideally, you’d have your own car. If you don’t we could talk about you using our car during your stay. But need to have a license.

You can stay here with a well behaved friend (s).

We have very very good wifi (fiber optic!). And a fridge we usually leave filled with food. And a kitchen you can cook in. And likely our CSA share.

Sometimes we travel for a night, sometimes for a week… looking for a couple of folks who can keep things going well when we are gone.

Depending on the situation and how many animals are here, we usually pay $30-50/a day

You:

Are responsible.

Ideally have experience with equines and definitely are comfortable with animals of all kinds.

Can manage feeding hay, hauling water buckets sometimes, cleaning a stall or two, feeding livestock, dogs, cat etc.

Have a sense for managing household things (I.e. you notice when the furnace has gone out and you can trouble shoot it with me on the phone).

Have a can do attitude! Occasionally, unexpected events occur on a farm (The donkeys get out -rarely but it has occurred-, a dog goes on a walkabout, a chicken dies….) and you need to be ready and able to cope with that.
