Follow these steps.

	1.	System Preferences > Keyboard > Application Shortcuts > Finder.app

	2.	Select Finder.app
	3.	Press the + sign
	4.	Enter "Duplicate" into the Menu Title field
	5.	Put the insertion point into the Keyboard Shortcut field
	6.	Type Control and "D" into the field
	7.	Press the Add-Button
	8.	The box will be closed

	9.	Close System Preferences

	10.	Start Spark
	11.	Click on the Apple inside the button called "All Applications's Hotkeys" in the Title Bar.
	12.	A drawer will be opened
	13.	Click on "Finder" in the drawer ("Front Application" is written on the top of that drawer)
	14.	At the other end (either left or right, depends on the preferences) you'll see a column called "HotKey Groups".
	15.	Look for "Document" in the column and double click on it
	16.	A dialog box opens (see screen shots here: <http://min.us/mbm0q8osKO>)
	17.	Now click on "Choose…". A navigation box opens and you should see your home folder in the left pane

	18.	Double click on it. In the right pane you should now see a folder called "Desktop"

	19.	Select it (DON'T DOUBLE CLICK!, Just select it)
	20.	Click on the "Open" button down in the lower right corner. You should now see the Desktop folder being selected

	21.	see screen shot No. 2

	22.	Enter Command + D into the Shortcut field
	23.	Place the insertion point into the Name-field and type "Desktop"
	24.	See screen shot 3
	25.	And finally click on the Create-button.

	26.	You should now see what is on screen shot 4 (for you only the Desktop folder and the two red arrows that point to it are relevant to you, the rest is old stuff from me.)

	27.	Finally, you must now click on the green arrow at the bottom of Spark's window where it says: Start Spark Daemon.

	28.	The green colored button with the gray arrow inside will change into a RED dot which indicates that now a background process has been activated which will monitor your shortcuts. From now on, every time you press Command + D the Desktop folder will be opened.

	29.	Now you can quit Spark.

That's it, voilą!

NB:
Since the shortcut was created for Finder you have to be in Finder in order to make this work. That means, if you are writing in Nisus or in TextEdit and press Command + D the Desktop folder will NOT open and interrupt you in your work. That's how you want it, isn't?
