The Footnote style settings in the Style Sheet determine the appearance of the footnotes. In Style Sheet view, select Footnote style, and in the "Default Note Text" box delete the full stop. Then any subsequent footnote added to the document will not have the full stop after the footnote number. Notes which were already in the document before will still have the full stop after the note number. To remove the full stop after the note number from the old notes, run Kino's macro "Apply Default Note Text".

To select the text of any one particular footnote, place the cursor anywhere in that footnote and press Command-A.

To select the text of all the footnotes in a document, place the cursor anywhere in the text of any footnote and press Command-A twice. You can also place the cursor anywhere in the text of any footnote and then from the green note tag in the Statusbar, at the bottom right of the document window, apply the "Select All" command.

There is no way to stop a long footnote from splitting between two consecutive pages if the layout so requires, but in the Footnote settings in the Style Sheet, there are two "Multi-page Threshold” boxes. You can set the minimum number of lines that the notes must contain before they can split between pages in the corresponding box in Multi-page Threshold. The default (in Nisus New File) is set at 5 lines; you can increase that number.
