If you are using an Intel Mac you could run Access using Bootcamp. A copy of Access appears to be much less expensive than Filemaker Pro. To take this a step further, I highly recommend VMWare Fusion. You can run both Access and OS X applications at the same time. Of course, you will have to have a copy of Windows - I use XP Pro.
