Normally I choose the 'official' Software Update method for checking and downloading any newly-found apps but this time I used MacUpdate Desktop. I don't think this is any faster but I can at least see the download inSpeed Download windows. SD also sorts downloaded .dmg and other files into appropriate folders where I can, eventually, find them.

MacUpdate Desktop also advises of all the other updates available. I'm expecting another rush after the Apple downloads.

That tip on Cmd+Option/alt is great Doug.
