Thanks, once again.

Finally the 'master' of the DB is willing to use OpenOffice instead of Access, and though the Mac version of OpenOffice has proved, finally, useless, NeoOffice does an excellent job.

So, the problem is, at least for the moment, settled. And my gratitude extends to all contributors to this lead.
