Jacksonville, IL High School also had sound problems with Dells and their
Tandberg system. It turned out to be the sound card. With Dell, even with
the same model, you might have different model sound card. They are
probably all SoundBlasters, but might be a different rev. Might be worth
having your techs open one that works and one that doesn't and see...
