Hi Birgit,
My first question for my faculty members when they talk of wikis is
whether or not they intend for the students to edit and reorganize one
another's work or whether they simply want to use the page as a means
by which to exchange and discuss ideas and materials. If the former,
then the wiki is the right way to go (and my apologies because I have
not used enough wiki tools to be able to make a specific
recommendation). If the latter, which is often the case, then I will
recommend a tool such as Ning for creating a closed social networking
site.

Congratulations to your colleague on trying something new.

Deanne
