Ellen,

I don't think this is exactly cutting edge but I have done a little bit 
in Flash.  Look at my French poetry site:
http://www.macalester.edu/hrc/ and click on Vivre La Poesie in the left 
column.

This is a combination of standard html and Flash.  It could be done all 
in Flash but at the time I was working on it, I thought as much html as 
possible was better.  I would have to revisit that assumption for future 
projects.
