Hi Roger

I'm not going to offer any advice specific to iPhones and Filemaker Go; my experience is very limited.

Rather, I want to point out that you seem to be mixing up some terminology that should not be mixed...

The process you are describing is to OPEN a hosted FMP file on your iPhone. This is not synching or anything much like it. The database file is not transferred to your iPhone. All data is sent back and forth across the network back to the host. This is a stateful connection and the network must be available 100% of the time.

In order for that to work, the host must be set up correctly to share the database file(s) that you want to open on the client (the iPhone). And your network path must not block any of the required ports for Filemaker networking. You will find information about those setups in the FMP help.

FYI I don't think there is any automatic synching available in any Filemaker product. You could script something within FMP (quite complicated, though!) or there are third-party synch systems available. Synching is probably trickier with FM Go than for machines running only FMP.
