Hi everyone,

The Dartmouth quizbowl team is always looking for new members. Quizbowl is an academic competition that features questions on literature, history, science, social science, the arts, and pretty much any other area you might be interested in. It's a great way to meet new people who share your academic interests and learn cool things about new subjects outside of classes. We travel to lots of other colleges to play tournaments and eat at ethnic restaurants. This upcoming weekend, we're sending teams to Chicago to compete in both the Intercollegiate Championship Tournament and History Bowl Nationals.

The quizbowl team holds open practices Monday-Thursday; this week they will all be in Thornton 107, 7-10 PM. Practices generally involve reading packets from past tournaments, but this term we're experimenting with other activities. On Wednesday we will be watching Akira Kurosawa's Throne of Blood (a samurai-based adaptation of Macbeth) starting at 8:30 (with regular practice beforehand). On Thursday, we will be giving a presentation on Italian Renaissance art and looking at paintings online.

The practice schedule is designed to be flexible and informal. You don't have to come to every practice (hardly anyone does), and you don't have to stay for the full three hours. Everyone is welcome to come to practice at any point during the term. You don't have to be a "good player," especially if you've never played before!

Please blitz the Dartmouth College Bowl account ([log in to unmask]) with any questions.
