Bob Ceplikas is a 30-year veteran of the college's staff in athletics and admissions.

Following Josie Harper's retirement in 2009, Ceplikas served as Dartmouth's Acting Director of Athletics and Recreation for 14 months. During that time, he oversaw one of the nation's most comprehensive athletics programs, including 34 Division I varsity sports, 34 club sports, and a wide range of intramural, physical education, fitness, and recreational offerings. He is credited with spearheading efforts to rebuild a championship-caliber football program; guiding the department through the most significant budget reduction process in the college's history; reconstituting the Dartmouth College Athletic Council; and overseeing the hiring of new head coaches in men's basketball, men's tennis, and sailing.

Also, his responsibilities at the school now include:

* Overseeing the department's annual giving programs, including the Athletic Sponsor Program (to support recruiting) and individual sports' Friends Groups, as total donations have swelled from about $500,000 to nearly $2.5 million annually;

* Serving as the coaches' liaison to the Admissions and Financial Aid Offices, recently collaborating with Admissions to develop and implement a much more effective framework for athletic recruiting;

* Playing a central role in the planning and coordination of athletic facility improvements totaling $85 million, including Boss Tennis Center, Scully-Fahey Field, Corey Ford Rugby Clubhouse, Zimmerman Fitness Center, and Floren Varsity House;

* Overseeing the marketing and promotions area; and

* Assisting the director with long-range planning, external relations, and overall management of the department.
