Dear all,

It's the time of year to apply for positions on the Dartmouth Undergraduate Journal of Science (DUJS) Editorial Board for next year (spring 2012 to winter 2013)!

All positions are open (you can find a list/description of the positions below and also on the first page of the application). Anyone can apply. Of course, preference is given to those who have shown dedication to DUJS in some way.

Please take a look at the information on the positions and if you're interested in applying, please fill out the attached application.

We encourage all of you to apply for any and all positions you're interested in. If you have any questions, please feel free to blitz me at anytime!

The positions go into effect this spring (Spring 2012) but you should apply even if you're off, we're happy to work around D-plans.

President
In charge of the physical operations of the journal, and deals with all external matters of the
DUJS. Will co-ordinate with Dean of Faculty, other administrators, and publishers, and in
charge of funding, office space, and along with the Editor-in-Chief, managing/overseeing all of
the members of the Editorial Board and their projects.

Editor-in-Chief
In charge of the overall content of the journal. Final editor of the journal's in-house and
submitted articles. Will interface with the managing editors, layout editor and the publishers to
ensure a quality final product.

Managing Editor (Text)/ Assisting Managing Editor
Responsible for editing articles for the print issue and online: content, grammar, proper usage,
references. Will be available to help/guide authors at any point in the writing process

Design Managing Editor
In charge of obtaining or producing images and securing copyrights to images, ensuring quality
of images, and overseeing design and layout with layout editor

Layout Editor
In charge of physical layout of the journal, interfaces with Editor-in-Chief and Design Managing
Editor, and oversees layout group

Online Content Editor
Responsible for maintenance of the website including uploading online articles and online
version of the print issue

Secretary
In charge of keeping meeting minutes, official communication of the DUJS, mailing out copies
of the journal and publicity material, upkeep of BlitzMail account

Public Relations Officer
In charge of contacting professors, students, and departmental administrative assistants to solicit
submissions to the journal; Runs a publicity campaign using BlitzMail, posters etc. for events,
and recruitment; attends conferences, symposia and activity fairs as DUJS representative.
Responsible for the distribution of the journal and alumni affairs.

The key is to foster science interest in undergraduates who may not initially be interested in
science as well as to further stimulate science interest in those who already love science.
