Doris Duke Charitable Foundation - JOB OPPORTUNITY

A Dartmouth '03 is looking for a Program Associate in NYC for the Doris Duke Charitable

Foundation!

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, a $1.6 billion grant-making foundation,

is seeking a bright, talented, and motivated Program Associate to support two

of its key grant-making programs: the Child Abuse Prevention Program, and the

African Health Initiative.

The Child Abuse Prevention Program (CAPP) funds efforts that assist, support and

educate families before an act of child abuse or neglect occurs. The majority

of grants support early intervention strategies that provide services and support

to a sub-set of children who are at increased risk for abuse and neglect. CAPP

also makes grants to support primary prevention strategies that reach a wide,

public audience with educational information.

Central to the African Health Initiative (AHI) is the establishment of large-scale

Population Health Implementation & Training (PHIT) Partnerships that link implementation

research and training directly to health care delivery. In 2009, DDCF awarded

four grants ranging from $8 million to $15 million each to support PHIT Partnerships

working in Ghana, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia.

The Program Associate is a contributing member of a high performing three-person

team.  The position includes administrative duties for both programs and substantive

programmatic responsibilities for CAPP.  As such, the position requires strong

initiative, good judgment, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Candidates with training and experience in the fields of child abuse prevention,

early childhood development or public health are encouraged to apply.  A bachelor's

degree with at least two years of professional work experience is required as

well as strong technology, Microsoft Office, and Internet skills.

until February 17, 2012.

IMPACT National Conference on Community Service

The IMPACT National Conference is the current incarnation of what was
originally the Campus Outreach Opportunity League's National
Conference on Student Community Service, also known as "the COOL
Conference." COOL was originally founded around the same time and
with a similar mission as Campus Compact. One distinction back then
was that COOL focused more on student-led co-curricular community
service programs, while Campus Compact initially focused more on
service-learning and the relationship between institutions and their
local communities.

The IMPACT Conference focuses on the full range of student civic
engagement -- community service, service-learning, community-based
research, advocacy --but compared to other national conferences,
continues to be strongest around the area of student-led community
service. If you are looking for ideas and strategies for building and
strengthening your co-curricular student-led service programs, this
is the ideal conference to attend or send student leaders and staff.
There will be over 80 workshops.

Although it focuses on strengthening programs and efforts that engage
college students, the conference itself is not just for students.
It's also intended for campus administrators, faculty, and non-profit
staff to gain new insights, share best practices and network. There
will be a robust administrator's track designed by and for campus
administrators and faculty.
