Dear Dartmouth students who are interested in changing the world,

This is an important message to you.

Anyone has the ability to harness innate power within. Some use that power solely
for themselves. Other people use their innate power for the well being of others.
We have one life. Why not live our life to the fullest through making the most
profound positive impact through harnessing our inner power and helping those
who need it?
For example, student AIDS activists traveled with Al Gore's Vice Presidential
campaign and interrupted him during every one of his speeches chanting, "Gore's
Greed Kills, AIDS Drugs for Africa!" The activists used Al Gore's campaign as
a way to give a voice to those in Africa. Within two weeks, the United States
said they would not impose trading rights preventing the importation of AIDS drugs
through South Africa. Through bird dogging and interrupting Al Gore, a small
group of student activists changed the current provision of zero dollars for AIDS/HIV
antiretroviral drug research and provision to 16 billion dollars. Activism is
a powerful tool, and one does not need to have a doctorate in order to save millions
of lives.
Starting this summer and continuing for the rest of our lives, the voiceless
will have a voice. Dartmouth students are leaders of the world. We do not need
to wait until after college to make a change.
