Don't know what to do with your topside money? Or want to help treat preventable
diseases? Please, DONATE to DGLP Honduras' Hygiene Drive!

We need:
Bar soap
Toothpaste
Toothbrushes
Nail clippers
Combs
Washcloths
Loofah/Bath sponges
Sanitary pads
Thermometers

The products will be donated to a clinic in El Rosario, Honduras where Dartmouth
Global Leadership Program is organizing a Youth Leadership Camp. The products
will help the children and teenagers to maintain their basic hygiene and help
treat preventable diseases such as scabies, lice and other infections.

We will have a box at Topside with a sign that says DGLP Honduras! Drop something
off on your way out!

The Dartmouth Global Leadership Program is a student-run program that sends Dartmouth
students on spring break projects to Vermont, Texas, and Honduras. DGLP projects
are different from the traditional alternative spring break trips because of a
focus on curriculum design during winter term. We select a group of students from
different academic backgrounds to work directly with our community partners-under
resourced high schools in low-income areas. Each group develops a consulting relationship
with the community, gaining an understanding of the community's needs, and then
responds to their needs by developing a plan of action.

The goal of the Spring Break Project to Honduras, La Fuerza para el Futuro, is
to guide and support the development of a cadre of teens from eight rural villages
who we help develop the locally identified skills they need to become the regional
leaders. The entire project team will be onsite in Honduras during the March interim
break. The project is leadership training for the 40+ teens who participated in
the La Fuerza leadership training last year. This time, we will divide into groups
for specialized training to become the backbone of the library and Regional Education
Center. We will teach them how to schedule the Center, care for the library, use
problem solving skills to address issues as they arise, manage the revenue and
expense, care for the building and its grounds. Established village leaders will
be involved in every step of deciding how to run the center and library. Our role
is to make the Center compelling to the teens, give them social uplift for their
involvement and help them establish a region-wide web of leaders they can rely
on.
