Dartmouth Haiti Response: Two Years After the Earthquake

Join the Dartmouth Center for Health Care Delivery Science for dinner,  
panel, and discussion of the legacy of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake  
that struck Haiti on 12 January 2010, and Dartmouth?s response  
efforts.  Panelists include Molly Bode, Dr. Peter Wright, Dr. Jaime  
Bayona, Dr. Brian Remillard, and Nitin Sharma. There will be an  
opportunity for Q&A following the panel.

Bios of Panelists:
Molly Bode graduated from Dartmouth in 2009, and works as the Global  
Health Program Officer at Dartmouth Center for Health Care Delivery  
Science.  She has worked extensively on the Dartmouth Haiti Response,  
and currently coordinates many of Dartmouth?s medical and educational  
initiatives in Haiti.  She will offer an update on current response  
efforts.

Dr. Peter Wright, MD, is a DMS professor and pediatric infectious  
disease specialist at DHMC, and traveled to Haiti on 25 January 2010,  
immediately after the earthquake, to provide medical and surgical  
support to HUEH, Haiti's largest hospital, and to the NGO GHESKIO.  He  
will discuss GHESKIO efforts and the 2010-2011 cholera outbreak.

Dr. Jaime Bayona, MD, MPH, is the director of Global Health Programs  
and Practice for the Dartmouth Center for Health Care Delivery  
Science, and is the co-founder of Socios en Salud Sucursal Peru, the  
Peruvian branch of Partners in Health.  He will discuss health care  
delivery science and the importance of moving from emergency response  
to ongoing, sustained involvement in Haiti that is community-needs  
driven.

Dr. Brian Remillard, MD, is the section chief of nephrology at DHMC  
and the coordinator of the Haiti Medical Education telemedicine  
project, which gives weekly lectures to sites in Haiti via video  
conference.  He will discuss medical education in Haiti and efforts in  
knowledge transfer of clinical skills to ensure sustainability of  
medical care in Haiti.

Nitin Sharma, MScEng, is a Class of 2012 student at Tuck School of  
Business with a background in engineering. He previously worked as a  
business strategist at Qualcomm Incorporated and led product  
commercialization of smartphones. Nitin currently is working on the  
$300 House Project in Haiti and is interested in social  
entrepreneurship. Nitin grew up in India before moving to the United  
States for graduate school.
