DNV Energy Markets | Multiple Roles including: Analyst, Data Engineer
Hi Thayer Alums,
I work in DNV's Energy Markets and Risk group, and we're hiring for a few analyst, data engineer, etc. positions (one of which is posted and several of which will be posted soon). DNV is a huge company, but my group works with utilities and a select group of large companies to help them figure out how to save energy, accelerate the energy transition, and ensure that the programs they have in place for these goals are meeting their goals. This means we work on issues like:

- shifting electric loads to times when there are more renewables on the grid
- helping figure out how to best integrate both small and large scale energy storage/batteries
- measuring the effectiveness of new energy efficient and energy saving technologies (both domestic and commercial types)
- understanding what behavioral and financial incentives will change electricity consumers' behaviors
- anticipating and designing for electric vehicle adoption
- the role of distributed energy resources
- and many others issues that will be front and center as we transition to carbon-free electricity.

I am new to working in energy and have found this job to be a really great place to learn about where we are in the energy transition, work with clients across the country (and sometimes outside of North America) on a variety of projects, and develop my technical skills. I've found that the culture here is a great fit for me (and, I would guess, some other Thayer grads, because):
- Almost everyone truly cares about stopping global warming and understands that's why we're doing the work we do
- Most people, including managers, are vocally supportive of a 40-hour work week with real appreciation for work-life balance and understanding/flexibility around non-work priorities
- I have been encouraged to spend time learning about new parts of the industry and help the company get involved with these projects

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the roles posted or potential future opportunities (I will definitely put in a good word for Thayer folks). I'd also love to hear what others working in energy are doing! https://careers-dnv.icims.com/jobs/16471/energy-analyst/job
