                               RACIAL CLUMPING:
A Dinner Discussion on Racial Identity on Campus
**********************************************
                              Hosted by
the Afro-American Society and the Dartmouth Asian Organization

                       Tuesday, February 8
                              8:00PM
                           Cutter-Shabazz
                         *ALL ARE WELCOME*

In her national bestseller, "Why Are All The Black Kids Sitting Together
in the Cafeteria?" Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum argues that "racial clumping"
for most students of color "is a process of establishing and affirming
their racial identity through positive interactions."

Questions for Discussion:

  - What is "self-segregation?"
  - Is "racial clumping" a better term? What does it mean?
  - What are the benefits and disadvantages of racial clumping?
  - Does racial clumping affect the majority? In what ways?
  - Is racial clumping occurring at Dartmouth? How should we address it?
  - Do individuals racially clump 24/7? Is it possible to racially clump 24/7?
