Come to the first GREEN GROUPS MEETING of the term! This TUESDAY at 8PM at Cutter
Shabazz
(which is located right next to the SLC and before the Choates).

You won't want to miss out! It's the weekly meeting of everything green on campus!
Blitz "Sustain" with any questions.

Here are some of the projects we will be doing this term. Come and get involved!:

Website Work: Designing a new blog for sustainability related news on campus and
helping our new Sustainability Fellow, Jenna Pollock, update the Dartmouth sustainability
website. If you are interested in environmental journalism, we'd love for you
to get involved! (Maya Viavant)

Bike Storage: Along with the help of Jenna Pollock, investigating the possibility
of getting covered bike storage units across campus. (Maya Viavant)

Planning Earth Week: There's only 181 days and counting until we celebrate the
41st Earth Day on Friday, April 22nd, 2011. And we need YOU to help us plan it!!
Help us make this Dartmouth's greenest year yet--Festival on the Green, concert,
"Trash"ion Show, and MORE! (Sarah Frostenson, Elizabeth Howland, Kevin Kennedy)

Tabling at the HOP: We will sit by the compost bins and guide patrons on how to
correctly sort their waste into composting, recycling, and trash. It is very important
that the composting program at the HOP is successful so that it can be implemented
in other dining areas on campus. (Melissa Gordon)

Reusable Containers: You know how everytime you see people throw away those plastic
salad containers from collis, you just cringe! Well. work with us to secure use
of reusable containers and utensils in Collis and other dining areas on campus!
We will need project members to help research previous efforts in the past, secure
a design and funding, and contact administration. Thanks! (Becky Niemiec)

The Environmental Studies Division of the DOC is taking suggestions in its reformation.
We are considering using our current budget to run
field trips, co-sponsor events with other green groups, give grants to DOC subclubs
to help run trips more sustainably. If you'd like to be a
part of redefining this group, blitz ESD. (Ben Hughey)

Meet and greet with Richard Harris
Monday, October 18th
Environmental Lecture Series (Jessica Krug)

Climate Work in the Academic World
Mid-November
We will need help with advertising and any connections with/recommendations of
professors who are active in the world of climate change that would be great.
We're looking to have professors present on the research they're doing and help
guide students who want to explore the issue through academic work in the future.
(Jessica Krug)

Ecovores will host weekly dinners made from local, seasonal food. These dinners
are open to all students and serve as a forum to discuss what's going on in the
green community. Other ecovores events may include field trips to local farms
or dairies or workshops such as canning and preserving. (Frances Davenport, Rosalie
Lipfert)

Hope to see you there,
Sustainability
